Credit: Sean EvansFounding Pink Floyd bassist/singer Roger Waters has signed a long-term publishing agreement with BMG to represent the song catalog he amassed while he was a member of the famous U.K. rock band. The deal covers songs that Waters wrote beginning with the group’s 1967 debut album, The Piper at the Gates of Dawn, and running through his last record with the band, 1983’s The Final Cut.
Waters noted in a statement that BMG had supported him when he organized and performed at the Music Heals benefit show for wounded veterans last October in Washington, D.C., adding, “I’m very glad to be back in the same team.”
Meanwhile, BMG CEO Hartwig Masuch says of the deal, “We are honored that Roger Waters has chosen BMG, the youngest of the big international music companies to represent his legendary and exquisite catalog. To win the endorsement and trust of one of the world’s most successful songwriters is a significant milestone less than eight years after our launch.”
Among the many classic songs Waters wrote or co-wrote for Pink Floyd are “Money,” “Wish You Were Here,” “Shine On You Crazy Diamond,” “Another Brick in the Wall,” “Hey You” and “Comfortably Numb.”
