Ozzy Osbourne has shared an update on the progress of his next solo album, the follow-up to 2020's Ordinary Man.
Speaking to Metal Hammer, the Prince of Darkness reveals he's "done 15 tracks" for the upcoming record. He explains that making the album has helped him mentally amid his health struggles — including recovering from a fall that required neck surgery — and the continuing COVID-19 pandemic.
"It's kept me alive," Ozzy says of the album. "These past two years I've been in a terrible f***ing state between the accident and then the pandemic. It's kept me sane — I've needed the music."
Ozzy adds that the album, which reunites him with his Ordinary Man producer Andrew Watt, is "slowly but surely" heading to the finish line.
"My only concern right now is finishing the bloody thing," he says. "We've got the same production time as the last time, so there's definitely going to be some similarities. But you'll just have to wait and see what you think."
Watt previously told Guitar World that the new record will feature Chad Smith of Red Hot Chili Peppers, Taylor Hawkins of Foo Fighters and Metallica's Robert Trujillo. Ordinary Man was recorded with Smith and Duff McKagan of Guns N' Roses, and featured guest spots from Slash, Elton John, Tom Morello and Post Malone.
