Paul Simon’s new album has landed the legendary singer/songwriter his highest charting solo album in nearly three decades.
The album, Stranger to Stranger, sold 68,000 units in its first week, and enters the Billboard album chart at #3 — that’s the highest any of his solo albums have ever debuted. Even more impressive is the fact that the last time he was in the top three was when his Grammy-winning album Graceland peaked at #3, way back in April of 1987.
Stranger to Stranger is the seventh top 10 solo album for Simon, who also scored five top 10 albums has one-half of Simon & Garfunkel.
Simon is currently in the middle of a tour in support of Stranger to Stranger — the trek includes two shows in Forest Hills Stadium in Queens, New York, the singer’s old childhood neighborhood.
