Britain’s The Sun newspaper is reporting that Sir Paul McCartney has been offered a judge’s role on that country’s version of The Voice, but the former Beatle has turned it down.
Next season, the show is moving from the BBC to commercial ITV, and the new channel wanted to start things off with a bang.
Boy George, Paloma Faith, will.i.am and the Kaiser Chief‘s Ricky Wilson held judging duties last season, while Tom Jones, Kylie Minogue, Rita Ora and Jessie J have also served as judges on the program.
A source says this about the prospect of McCartney joining the show: “His One on One world tour does not end until October, when filming for the show is likely to begin. While the ITV offer has been generous, Paul really doesn’t need the money and wants to focus on his own music.”
