Foo Fighters share more info on #SOSFest set; Dave Grohl featured on The Bird and the Bee’s holiday album

Foo Fighters have shared more info about their set for #SOSFest, the upcoming virtual event supporting the National Independent Venue Association, or NIVA, and its mission of helping independent music venues amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Dave Grohl and company’s performance will be an acoustic set, and will air October 17 from the Troubadour club in Los Angeles.

“The smaller music venues and the ones that are really struggling are not only culturally important, they are emotionally important,” Grohl said.

#SOSFest will air October 16-18 via the NIVA YouTube channel. Other artists performing include Rise Against, Dave Matthews, Brittany Howard, Finneas, The Lumineers, Nathaniel Rateliff, Portugal. the Man and The Revivalists, as well as pop stars such as Miley Cyrus and Demi Lovato.

In related Foos news, Grohl is featured on an upcoming holiday album from indie pop duo The Bird and the Bee called Put Up the Lights. Fittingly, the former Nirvana drummer plays on a rendition of “Little Drummer Boy,” which you can listen to now via Soundcloud.

Grohl previously collaborated with The Bird and the Bee for a cover of Van Halen’s “Ain’t Talkin’ Bout Love,” and he’s also worked with members Greg Kurstin and Inara George individually. Kurstin produced the most recent Foo Fighters album, 2017’s Concrete and Gold, and George recruited Grohl to sing on her solo song, “Sex in Cars.”

Put Up the Lights will be released October 23.
