Duff McKagan has shared a clip from his forthcoming documentary film, It’s So Easy and Other Lies. In the excerpt, which you can watch at Billboard.com, McKagan remembers rehearsing with Guns N’ Roses and Axl Rose for the first time in 1985.
“Axl let out one of his screams and it was like nothing I’d ever heard,” McKagan says in the clip, while an acoustic version of GN’R’s “Nightrain” plays in the background. “There were two voices coming out of him at once. I suppose there is a name for that in musicology, but all I knew in that instant was that this dude was…different… powerful…and serious.”
It’s So Easy and Other Lies was filmed during McKagan’s 2013 performance at the Moore Theatre in Seattle during his book tour in support of his memoir of the same name. The documentary, which hits theaters this Friday, June 3, includes commentary from Slash, Pearl Jam‘s Mike McCready and Nikki Sixx.
