Don Arnold/WireImageEagles co-founder Glenn Frey died in January of 2016, but a lawsuit surrounding his death drags on.
Frey died of ulcerative colitis, pneumonia and other complications — and according to Page Six, his widow, Cindy Frey, is suing for negligence the doctor who treated him.
She wants $12 million, which she says represents the money Frey would have earned if he had lived past the age of 67. When he died, Frey was reportedly worth around $90 million.
But now Page Six reports that the doctor, Steven Izkowitz, is claiming in court papers that Cindy Frey has refused to provide financial documents proving that Glenn would have earned $12 million if he’d lived.
Cindy’s widow responded that he hasn’t provided those details because the doctor hasn’t signed a confidentiality agreement. The two parties are due in court next week, says Page Six.
Cindy filed the wrongful death suit against Izkowitz in 2018, claiming that he failed to “promptly and properly assess” her husband “for respiratory issues,” and also ignored the fact that he had an infection.
It’s actually quite plausible that Frey would have gone on to earn $12 million or more had he lived, based on The Eagles‘ record sales, songwriting royalties, and the tours and festivals they’ve played since Frey’s death.
Currently, Frey’s son Deacon and country star Vince Gill are performing Frey’s guitar and vocal parts when the Eagles play live.
