Def Leppard’s Phil Collen to perform with Chaka Khan on Black Girls Rock! virtual benefit event today

Def Leppard guitarist Phil Collen will be performing with funk/R&B legend Chaka Khan at the 15th annual fundraising gala for the women's-empowerment organization Black Girls Rock!, a virtual event that takes place later today. The bash will air on the newly launched BGR!TV network and will stream on the organization's official YouTube channel, starting at 7 p.m. ET.

The fundraiser will be hosted by actress Tatyana Ali and hip-hop legend MC Lyte, and also will include appearances by Tracee Ellis Ross, Common, India.Arie and Misty Copeland, as well as a special virtual appearance by Michelle Obama.

Black Girls Rock! is described as a "multifaceted media, entertainment, philanthropic and lifestyle brand" that seeks to inspire and celebrate women and girls of color.

In other news, Collen and Def Leppard frontman Joe Elliott will take part in a video livestream event on Friday, June 25, at LeppardVault.com that will feature them chatting with famed rock photographer Ross Halfin.

As Elliott explains in a preview clip posted on Def Leppard's Twitter feed, the event will feature a discussion with Halfin about "the photographs he has taken over the years of Def Leppard, and our history together." Joe also reveals that that the livestream will feature a Q&A, during which they will answer questions "direct from the Leppard Vault."
