Courtesy of HDNET MOVIESThe Police‘s Stewart Copeland will step out from behind his drum kit to host a weeklong series of rock documentaries on the HDNET MOVIES channel starting on Monday, July 16, which happens to be his 66th birthday.

Classic Rock Week with Stewart Copeland will kick off with a screening of Everyone Stares: The Police Inside Out, a 2006 film focusing on Copeland’s famous band that he directed and that features Super 8 footage he shot while touring with the group during its heyday.

“It’s something very near and dear to me,” Copeland says of Everyone Stares. “In this picture, when you watch this film, your name is Stewart because the camera is right in the band.”

The series, which runs through Sunday, July 22, will kick off daily at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT, and will feature either two or three movies each day. In total, 19 films will be screened, including docs about the 1982 US Festival, Rod Stewart, The Doobie Brothers, Bad Company, Elton John, The Who, Bob Dylan, Les Paul, The Allman Brothers Band, Chicago, Eric Clapton, The Doors, The Rolling Stones, Rush, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Pink Floyd and Roger Waters.

While hosting the event, Copeland will share stories and thoughts about the various artists being profiled, including how The Allman Brothers inspired him to play guitar, his aborted collaboration with The DoorsRay Manzarek and Robbie Krieger, and his brief feud with Rush.

“We’ve got seven nights of amazing rock & roll documentary films from some of classic rock’s most incredible legends,” says Stewart, “and I can’t wait to share these films with fans this summer, along with a few fun stories of my own.”
