Credit: Glenn GottliebHere’s some affirmative news for Yes fans: Longtime drummer Alan White, who sat out the prog-rock legends’ U.S. summer tour while he recovered from back surgery, will rejoin the band on the road for its upcoming Japanese trek. The outing will feature performances in Tokyo on November 21, 22, 28 and 29, as well as in Osaka on November 24 and Nagoya on November 25.

“Greatly looking forward to getting back on stage with my band mates to play Yes music once again for our devoted audiences,” says White in a statement.

Meanwhile, Jay Schellen, who filled in for White this summer, also will accompany Yes to Japan and will continue playing with the band until Alan has finished healing. The Japanese gigs will feature the group performing sides one and four of its 1973 two-disc set Tales from Topographic Oceans, as well as its entire 1973 double live album Yessongs. The latter record includes tunes from three classic Yes studio albums — 1971’s The Yes Album and Fragile and 1972’s Close to the Edge.

Speaking of Tales from Topographic Oceans, an expanded version of the album was released earlier this month as a three-CD/Blu-ray set and a two-CD/two-DVD collection that include remixes by renowned prog-rock producer Steven Wilson. The reissues feature 5.1 surround sound mixes and new stereo mixes of the album, bonus tracks, and a booklet containing photos, notes and archival material.
