ABC/Randy HolmesMetallica played the song “Here Comes Revenge” — a track from their latest album, 2016’s Hardwired…to Self-Destruct — for the first time live during their show in Lubbock, Texas over the weekend.

Perhaps the reason the metal legends waited so long to play “Here Comes Revenge” is because of its heavy subject matter. Frontman James Hetfield has said that the song was inspired by a young Metallica fan who was killed by a drunk driver. Her parents have continued to attend Metallica shows in her memory.
Metallica’s tour continues Monday night in Wichita, Kansas.
