Credit: Ross HalfinGameplay footage from the canceled Metallica-sanctioned video game Damage Inc. has surfaced online, thanks to video game archivists PtoPOnline. The clip shows an early build of the game, which was based around vehicular combat in a post-apocalyptic setting in the vein of the Twisted Metal games.

Development for Damage Inc began around 2003, and was set to be released in 2005. A trailer for the game was included in Metallica’s 2003 album, St. Anger. Concept art for Damage Inc. surfaced in 2011, long after the game had been canceled.

Metallica did return to the video game world for their own version of Guitar Hero, which was released in 2009.

As for Metallica things that haven’t been canceled, the band’s new album Hardwired…to Self-Destruct will be released November 18.
