This year’s class of inductees included four classic-rock acts that many music fans felt had been long overlooked — Deep Purple, Chicago, Steve Miller and Cheap Trick — along with the influential rap act N.W.A.

In the weeks leading up the ceremony, conflicts over the post-induction performances led to key original members of Deep Purple and Chicago — guitarist Ritchie Blackmore and singer/bassist Peter Cetera, respectively — boycott the event. But the artists who did take part in the event delivered plenty of heartfelt and humorous speeches and performances.

Here are just some of the memorable moments to look out for if you watch the show:

— Deep Purple was inducted by longtime superfan Lars Ulrich of Metallica, who gave a speech in which he wondered why it took so long for Purple to be inducted, since they’ve been eligible since 1993.

— Deep Purple’s current lineup performed “Highway Star,” “Hush” and, of course, “Smoke on the Water.”

— Miller was inducted by The Black Keys, and he gave a speech in which he called for the Rock Hall’s induction process to become more transparent, and for more women to be inducted.

— Steve and his current band played “Fly Like an Eagle,” “Rock ‘n Me” and “The Joker,” a song he claimed saved his career.

— N.W.A. was inducted by acclaimed rapper and fellow Compton, California, native Kendrick Lamar.

— Chicago was welcomed into the Rock Hall by Matchbox Twenty‘s Rob Thomas.

— While Cetera was a no-show, original Chicago drummer Danny Seraphine, who left the band in 1990, took part in the induction and the performance. Thomas joined Chicago to sing “Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?” and the band also played “Saturday in the Park” and “25 or 6 to 4.”

— Cheap Trick were ushered into the Hall of Fame by Kid Rock.

— Original Cheap Trick drummer Bun E. Carlos reunited with his fellow founding members for the first time since 2010 to play “I Want You to Want Me,” “Surrender” and “Dream Police.”

— The all-star jam at the end of the night featured a rendition of Fats Domino‘s “Ain’t That a Shame,” which Cheap Trick had covered in 1979.

— Ex-Talking Heads frontman David Byrne teamed up with indie-pop singer Kimbra and The Roots to pay tribute to the late David Bowie with a performance of “Fame.”

Sheryl Crow and Grace Potter collaborated on a version of The Eagles‘ “New Kid in Town” in honor of the late Glenn Frey.

The 2016 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony airs Saturday on HBO at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
