The news of new Crue music came as a bit of a surprise, since the band played what they billed as their final show on New Year’s Eve 2015. To kick off the farewell tour, they even signed a contract promising they wouldn’t tour together anymore.

After making the announcement, Neil took to Twitter to clarify the status of Motley Crue.

“We signed a contract not to tour anymore,” Neil wrote. “We never broke up or said we would never make music again.”

Meanwhile, bassist Nikki Sixx has confirmed fan speculation that the new songs are for the upcoming Crue biopic, The Dirt.

“You can trust us these are ball busters,” Sixx says of the new songs. “Everybody can relax. We’re soon gonna smack you upside the head with some killer new tracks.”

The Dirt, based on the 2001 autobiography of the same name, will premiere on Netflix. According to IMDB, the film is currently in post-production.
