UK interview series “The Ronnie Wood Show,” featuring McCartney and more stars, to debut on AXS TV in July

1019

Courtesy of AXS TVSeveral years ago, Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood hosted an award-winning U.K. radio interview show that was turned into a British TV series. Now, The Ronnie Wood Show television series is set to get its U.S. premiere on AXS TV next month.

The program takes viewers behind the scenes at Wood’s radio show as the guitar great plays songs that have inspired him, shares anecdotes from his long and eventful career, and chats and jams with music legends.

The first episode debuts Wednesday, July 11, at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT and will be a special hour-long show featuring Wood conversing candidly and performing with the one and only Paul McCartney.

During the episode, McCartney reminisces about his life as a Beatle and talks about some of his favorite old songs, while also teaming up with Wood to jam along to a variety of tunes that influenced him.

At one point, Sir Paul explains why “God Only Knows” is his favorite Beach Boys song and sings along to the tune. He also emotionally recalls the time he got to perform the song with Brian Wilson.

After the McCartney episode airs, two half-hour episodes of The Ronnie Wood Show will be shown back-to-back weekly each Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT from July 18 through August 15.

Other guests who will appear on various episodes include Alice Cooper, Wood’s Faces band mate Ian McLagan, Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash, Simply Red and sometimes Faces singer Mike Hucknall, soul guitar great Steve Cropper, and Ronnie’s former girlfriend — and Eric Clapton‘s and George Harrison‘s ex-wife — Pattie Boyd.
