Credit: Tyler CurtisWith Twisted Sister set to play its last show ever this fall, frontman Dee Snider is looking ahead to the next chapter of his musical career, and has announced plans to release a new solo album titled We Are the Ones in October. The singer collaborated with award-winning producer/songwriter Damon Ranger on the project, which finds Snider exploring a variety of musical styles.

We Are the Ones includes a cover of Nine Inch Nails‘ “Head Like a Hole,” a soaring anthem called “Superhero,” a tune titled “So What” featuring a string section and an acoustic rendition of Twisted Sister’s classic “We’re Not Gonna Take It.”

Speaking about his new musical direction, Snider says, “I’m not anti the past — I’m just not one of those guys sitting there singing about the glory days. To me, these are the glory days, and the days to come are the glory days. And this new record is the part of my next glory days.”

Snider’s unplugged “We’re Not Gonna Take It” has been chosen as the theme to the Recording Academy’s “Fair Play Fair Pay” campaign, which is seeking to overhaul the laws governing the royalties artists are paid for their music being played on the radio. Dee introduced his stripped-down version of the tune this past April in Washington, D.C., when he spoke about the Recording Academy’s initiative at the Grammy on the Hill conference.

You can check out a video of the powerful performance at EW.com. Dee’s studio version of the tune is available now at iTunes.

Snider is planning to perform his new material during a solo appearance at the 2016 Riot Fest on September 18 in Chicago.
