Courtesy of Rogers & CowanMoody Blues singer/bassist John Lodge kicked off a U.S. solo trek last week in support of his just-released CD/DVD set Live from Birmingham — The 10,000 Light Years Tour, and the veteran rocker continues the trek tonight in Sellersville, Pennsylvania.
Lodge recently told ABC Radio that his U.S. shows will feature pretty much the same set list he played at the performance documented in the Live in Birmingham release, which took place in September 2016 in his hometown of Birmingham, U.K.
“We may add one or two more songs, but basically, I want to share the live concert at Birmingham,” he explained. “And I really want to play the concert as it was.”
The Birmingham concert featured several songs from Lodge’s 2015 solo album, 10,000 Light Years Ago, and a variety of Moody Blues tunes, including “I’m Just a Singer (in a Rock and Roll Band),” “Gemini Dream,” “Ride My Seesaw,” “Isn’t Life Strange” and “Candle of Life.” It also featured “Saved by the Music,” a song from Blue Jays, his 1975 duo album with Moody Blues band mate Justin Hayward.
Accompanying Lodge on the U.S. trek is the same band that backed him on the 2017 edition of Yes‘ Cruise to the Edge this past February and at the series of Florida shows he played just prior to the cruise.
Lodge’s U.S. trek wraps up with a November 8 show in New York City. Meanwhile, a two-LP vinyl version of Live from Birmingham is due out November 20.
