The Rock & Roll Hall of Famer also revealed that he has another project he’s hoping will see light of day in the coming weeks: the long-in-the-works documentary Strangers.

Davies tells ABC Radio that his son Martin is working on the film, and that he’s “hoping to have a cut of that ready for the summer.”

The 71-year-old guitar great says his son has been “meticulous in cutting this film together,” adding, “What I’ve seen is really special.”

Dave explains that the movie is about his life, noting, “it’s basically about being on the road…but it really covers a lot.”

The documentary features footage shot in the years since Davies has returned to performing following a debilitating 2004 stroke, plus some “old Super 8 film,” he says.

Dave also points that the doc will include “a bit of a back story of some of the early Kinks stuff and the way me and [his brother and band mate] Ray got a lot of ideas for Muswell Hillbillies in a house I lived in, in [the London neighborhood of] East Barnet.”

An early trailer for Strangers posted back in 2015 can still be viewed at Davies’ official YouTube channel.

Dave recently wrapped up a spring solo tour of the U.S. He currently has no other shows on his schedule.
