Credit: Udo SpreitzenbarthBrian Wilson is touring this year with a special show celebrating the 50th anniversary of The Beach Boys‘ classic album, Pet Sounds.  Now his old band has announced they’re launching their own trek marking the 50th anniversary of the group’s #1 hit, “Good Vibrations.”

The 50 Years of Good Vibrations tour gets underway June 17 in Pala, California, and is mapped out all the way through a December 17-18 engagement in The Village, Florida.

The Beach Boys’ tour will include a number of special concert performances, including a July 4 show at the Coney Island boardwalk in New York City, and a July 19 event at The Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., that will commemorate Pet Sounds‘ 50th anniversary. The latter gig will feature the band performing with the National Symphony Orchestra, and will include a number of surprise guests.

Before the tour kicks off, The Beach Boys will perform at the 27th annual National Memorial Day Concert, which takes place this Sunday, May 29, in Washington, D.C. The show, which honors the men and women serving in the U.S. armed forces, will air live on PBS and on the American Forces Network stating at 8 p.m. ET. The special will be hosted by Joe Mantegna and Gary Sinise, also will include performances by country star Trace Adkins, opera great Renee Fleming, and singer/actress Katherine McPhee.

In other news, a release date has been set for Beach Boys frontman Mike Love‘s upcoming memoir, Good Vibrations: My Life as a Beach Boy. The book, which Love co-wrote with James S. Hirsch, will be released September 13. Pre-order it now at Penguin.com/GoodVibrationsBook.
