Chris Cornell (ABC/Randy Holmes)Today, August 17, is for whatever reason, Black Cat Appreciation Day. Coincidentally, the reunited Temple of the Dog shared a demo of a previously unreleased song today called “Black Cat.” You can listen to the demo now on RollingStone.com.

The “Black Cat” demo will be included in the deluxe 25th anniversary reissue of Temple of the Dog’s self-titled debut album, which will be released September 30.

Temple of the Dog features Chris Cornell and Matt Cameron of Soundgarden, plus Pearl Jam‘s Jeff Ament, Stone Gossard and Mike McCready. The band was formed in 1990 and released its lone album in 1991 — which also features guest vocals by Eddie Vedder — before disbanding a year later. Last month, the members of Temple of the Dog announced that they are reuniting for their first-ever tour, which starts November 4 in Philadelphia.
