Before the game, The Pumpkins threw out the first pitch, and Corgan sang “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” during the seventh-inning stretch. As for the actual game, the Cubs won in dramatic fashion after rookie infielder David Bote hit a walk-off grand slam in the bottom of the ninth inning.

“SP Magic!” Corgan wrote in an Instagram post. “Threw out first pitch, sang 7th Inning stretch, and @cubs win with walk-off grand slam by Bote! What a game.”

The Smashing Pumpkins, which now consist of original members Corgan, James Iha and Jimmy Chamberlin, will play Chicago’s United Center tonight and tomorrow.

In related news, Corgan has returned to the cover of Chicago’s cat-loving Paws magazine. The musician is pictured on the cover of the publication’s 20th anniversary issue, along with his girlfriend Chloe Mendel, son Augustus and cats Angelface and Diamondbaby.

Corgan previously appeared on the cover of Paws in 2014.
