Rolling Stones spinoff group Stones Throw to perform at Memphis’ Mempho Music Festival in October

Giunta/Getty Images); Darryl Jones (Gary Miller/ FilmMagic)The Rolling Stones currently have no official plans to perform in the U.S. this year, but come the fall most of the legendary group’s touring band will team up to play the 2018 Mempho Music Festival, scheduled for October 6 and 7 at Shelby Farms Park in Memphis, Tennessee.

Longtime Rolling Stones keyboardist Chuck Leavell, bassist Daryl Jones, backing singer Bernard Fowler, and saxophonists Tim Ries and Karl Denson will perform under the moniker Stones Throw on the second day of the fest.  Stones Throw plays a variety of Rolling Stones material, including classics and lesser-known gems.

Beck headlines The Mempho Music Festival on October 6 and rapper Post Malone headlines October 7.  The lineup also features Janelle Monae, Nas, Phoenix and such veteran acts as George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic, legendary Stax Records house band The Bar-Kays, blues great Bobby Rush and soul singer William Bell.

Meanwhile, The Rolling Stones continue to rock Europe on their 2018 No Filter Tour, which is mapped out through a July 8 show in Warsaw, Poland. The band’s next concert takes place this Friday, June 15, in Cardiff, Wales, U.K.
