A video for a new Roger Waters song titled “The Last Refugee,” from his upcoming solo album Is This the Life We Really Want?, has premiered on the ex-Pink Floyd singer/bassist’s official VEVO YouTube channel.

The clip, which was directed by Waters and his frequent collaborator Sean Evans, focuses on an impoverished woman who apparently has been displaced from her home country and has lost her child.

The clip begins by showing the woman, wearing a worn winter coat, dancing expressively in a rundown room that includes a sleeping bag and a burning pot.

The scene then switches to a similar but cleaner room, where the woman, now dressed in a black evening dress with her hair neatly made up and donning hoop earrings, continues to dance. As the clip continues, the woman is seen again in the shabby room, curling up mournfully by her sleeping bag on a sheet of cardboard, then picking up a ragged children’s doll.

As the video nears its end, the woman is shown walking on a beach toward a little girl on an overcast day. When she reaches the spot where the child was, the young girl is gone, and instead the woman finds the doll.

The melancholy video was shown on the giant screen when Waters performed “The Last Refugee” at his Us + Them Tour rehearsal concert Sunday in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

Is This the Life We Really Want? will be released on June 2.
