Polydor RecordsFor his forthcoming solo album, As Long as I Have You, Roger Daltrey recorded a cover of the Stephen Stills tune “How Far,” and now the Who frontman has made the track available for purchase as a digital download and via streaming services.

Fans who pre-order As Long as I Have You will immediately receive a free download of “How Far,” as well as the title track, a 1964 tune written by Jerry Ragavoy and Ben Elgin and first recorded by Garnet Mimms.

Stills’ original version of “How Far” originally appeared on his short-lived band Manassas‘ 1972 self-titled debut. Daltrey’s rendition is among 10 covers featured on As Long as I Have You, which will be released on June 1.

The album, which is made up mainly of soul-flavored material, also includes versions of Stevie Wonder‘s “You Haven’t Done Nothing” and The Jackson Five‘s “The Love You Save,” plus two original compositions by Roger: “Certified Rose” and “Always Heading Home.”

As previously reported, Daltrey’s Who band mate Pete Townshend plays guitar on seven of the album’s tracks.

Next month, Roger kicks off a special U.S. tour dubbed “Roger Daltrey Performs The Who’s Tommy” that will feature him accompanied by a different orchestra at each venue he visits. The trek gets underway on June 8 concert in Bethel, New York, and runs through a July 8 show in the Cleveland suburb of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio.

Daltrey will follow those shows with a run of U.S. summer performances that will featuring him playing select Who songs and solo tunes backed by just his solo band.
