Wolf’s tribute reads, “Thinking of all the times we kicked it high and rocked down the house! R.I.P. Jay Geils.”  It’s accompanied by a vintage black-and-white photo of the band.

Geils was found dead Tuesday at his home in Groton, Massachusetts. Police say the 71-year-old musician appears to have died of natural causes, and no foul play is suspected.

Bruce Springsteen‘s E Street Band members Steven Van Zandt and Nils Lofgren also penned tributes to Geils. “All our love and sympathy to the family and friends of John Warren Geils Jr.,” tweeted Van Zandt. “The J. Geils Band remain one of greatest bands of all time.”

Lofgren tweeted, “Sad to lose J. Geils. Me n Grin learned so much opening for @TheJ_GeilsBand. J and band were always kind. RIP John.”  Me n Grin is Lofgren’s old band, back in the day.
