When it was announced recently that The Late Late Show will be airing from London later this month, speculation immediately began regarding what stars might appear on a U.K. edition of the program’s “Carpool Karaoke” segment. Now, reports suggest that rock legend Paul McCartney will be joining host James Corden for one of his popular mobile singing sessions.

Over the weekend, McCartney and Corden were spotted filming in various Beatles-related sites in Sir Paul’s hometown of Liverpool, U.K. According to the Liverpool Echo, McCartney and Corden were seen together taking selfies in front of the life-size Beatles statue at the Liverpool waterfront, walking down Penny Lane, visiting Paul’s childhood home, and driving around the streets of the city in a Range Rover.

The Liverpool Echo also reports that McCartney played a surprise concert Saturday in front of 50 people at a pub called The Philharmonic. Paul’s set included two brand-new tunes.

In a recent red-carpet interview, Corden said McCartney was the celebrity he’d most like to have appear on a “Carpool Karaoke” segment.

Episodes of The Late Late Show will broadcast from Central Hall Westminster in London from Monday, June 18, through Thursday, June 21. The program airs on CBS at 12:37 a.m. ET/11:37 p.m. CT.

In other McCartney-related news, an enigmatic post featuring a blank white square appeared Sir Paul’s official Facebook page on Saturday. With the 50th anniversary of the release of The Beatles’ self-titled 1968 double album, a.k.a. “The White Album,” taking place in November, there’s speculation that the Facebook post might be teasing a planned deluxe reissue. Last year, producer Giles Martin hinted that such a reissue was being considered, but we’ll just have to wait and see what McCartney’s mysterious message is really all about.
