The film will premiere early Friday, November 3, on Meat Free Monday’s official YouTube channel.

The documentary is narrated by McCartney, his daughters and award-winning actors Emma Stone and Woody Harrelson, and focuses on how cutting meat out of our diet for even one day a week can have a positive impact on our health, climate change and the Earth’s ecosystems.

“[T]here’s a simple but significant way to help protect the planet and all its inhabitants, and it starts with just one day a week,” the rock legend says in the video. “One day without eating animal products can have a huge impact in helping maintain that delicate balance that sustains us all.”

In conjunction with the film’s premiere, McCartney sat down for a video interview with National Geographic Editor in Chief Susan Goldberg that you can watch now at the magazine’s website. The former Beatles star discusses the documentary and the Meat Free Monday campaign, while also recalling how he became a vegetarian.

In addition, Sir Paul reveals that his classic 1968 Beatles song “Lady Madonna” was inspired by a photo he saw in a 1965 issue of National Geographic that showed a young Vietnamese woman nursing a baby.

“I saw that as a kind of Madonna thing, mother and child,” McCartney explains. “You know, sometimes you see pictures of mothers and you go, ‘She’s a good mother.’ You could just tell there’s a bond and it just affected me, that photo.”
