Capitol Records/UMePaul McCartney has unveiled the title and release date of his long-awaited studio album. As the recent video posted on his Twitter feed suggested, McCartney’s album is called Egypt Station and will hit retailers September 7 multiple formats, including CD, vinyl LP, digital and as a Super Deluxe Limited Edition box set featuring bonus tracks.

The news coincides with the release Wednesday of two songs from the album: a ballad titled “I Don’t Know” and a rocking tune called “Come On to Me.” Both tracks are available digitally now, though if you pre-order Egypt Station you’ll immediately receive free downloads of the songs. McCartney gave “Come On to Me” its live debut at the previously reported surprise show he played at a pub in his hometown of Liverpool, U.K.

Check out lyrics videos for both songs at McCartney’s official YouTube channel.

“I liked the words ‘Egypt Station.’ It reminded me of the ‘album’ albums we used to make,” explains McCartney of the album’s title, which is also shared by an original painting by Sir Paul. “Egypt Station starts off at the station on the first song and then each song is like a different station. So it gave us some idea to base all the songs around that. I think of it as a dream location that the music emanates from.”

The album features 14 songs recorded in Los Angeles, London and Sussex, U.K. All but one of the tracks were produced by Greg Kurstin, who’s also worked with Adele, Beck and Foo Fighters.

Egypt Station opens and closes with instrumentals titled “Station I” and “Station II,” respectively. Names of other songs on the album include “Happy with You,” “People Want Peace,” and “Despite Repeated Warnings.”
