Neil Young has scheduled a series of U.S. shows in the Pacific Northwest in advance of his May 25 headlining appearance with backing band Promise of the Real at the BottleRock Napa Valley festival in Napa, California.
The five-date run begins with two solo concerts on May 17 and 18, respectively in Portland, Oregon, and Spokane, Washington. Young then will be joined by the Promise of the Real for a May 20-21 stand in Seattle two-night and a May 23 performance in Eugene, Oregon. Tickets to the concerts are on sale now for yearly subscribers to his Neil Young Archives website.
The 73-year-old Rock & Roll Hall of Famer currently is in his one-time hometown of Winnipeg, Canada, for a two-show engagement with his frequent backing group Crazy Horse, whose current lineup includes longtime E Street Band member Nils Lofgren. The first concert took place Sunday at the Burton Cummings Theatre, while the second will be held Monday night at the Centennial Concert Hall. Lofgren previously played with Crazy Horse in the early ’70s, and rejoined the group last year.
Saturday, Neil posted a new photo on his Facebook page of him and one of the members of his early-’60s band The Squires posing in front of Winnipeg’s Crescentwood Community Center, where the group played one of its first gigs.
The only other confirmed concerts on Young’s 2019 schedule are co-headlining shows with Bob Dylan on July 12 at London’s Hyde Park and July 14 at Nowlan Park in Kilkenny, Ireland. Neil will perform with Promise of the Real at both events.
