German rockers The Scorpions are known for their hard-rock anthems, but also for their soaring ballads. The latter tunes are the focus of a new compilation called Born to Touch Your Feelings — Best of Rock Ballads that will be released on November 24.
The 17-track collection features a variety of tunes from throughout The Scorpions’ long career, including classic recordings, remastered tracks, updated versions of songs, single edits and brand-new songs. One track is the updated version of the band’s smash 1991 ballad “Wind of Change” that appeared on the group’s 2011 covers album Comeblack.
Born to Touch Your Feelings also features a newly recorded acoustic rendition of the 1991 hit “Send Me an Angel” and two new songs: “Melrose Avenue” and “Always Be with You.”
The compilation will be available on CD and as a digital download, as well as via streaming services.
“Nowadays, ballads are the pinnacle of rock music,” says Scorpions frontman Klaus Meine. “If they’re well-written, they will go straight to the hearts of the fans.”
Adds founding guitarist Rudolf Schenker, “Growing up, we didn’t really listen to Mozart or Haydn but rather to Elvis, The Rolling Stones or Little Richard. But still, the more serious kind of music is what we were influenced by starting at a very young age. There’s no denying that.”
