The Rolling Stones in 2015 (Credit: Kevin Mazur)A new concert movie documenting The Rolling Stones‘ historic free show in Havana, Cuba, this past spring will premiere as a one-night-only event on September 23 at a variety of theaters in the U.K. and other countries. Havana Moon — The Rolling Stones Live in Cuba features the British rock legends performing outdoors in front of a crowd of more than a million on March 25, 2016.
At the beginning of the concert, frontman Mick Jagger said to the audience, “Finally the times are changing, Cuba we are so happy to be here.” He later jokingly introduced his band mates as “The Revolutionary Ronnie Wood…Charlie ‘Che’ Watts [and] Compadre Keith Richards.”
Among the many classic songs The Stones played at the gig were “Brown Sugar,” “Honky Tonk Women,” “Jumpin’ Jack Flash,” “Paint It Black,” “Start Me Up,” “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” and “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction.”
Havana Moon was directed by Paul Dugdale, the same filmmaker behind the just-announced documentary The Rolling Stones Olé Olé Olé!: A Trip Across Latin America, which will premiere at the 2016 Toronto International Film Festival in September. The Havana concert brought to a close the band’s Olé America Latina tour.
Tickets for the Havana Moon — The Rolling Stones Live will go on sale in early August at StonesinCuba.com. No word yet on when the movie will premiere in the U.S.
