Courtesy of the LEGO GroupA new LEGO collection inspired by the 1968 animated Beatles film Yellow Submarine will be released on November 1. The toy set features more than 550 LEGO bricks that can be arranged to build the cartoon sub, as well as figurines of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, Ringo Starr and the quirky character Jeremy Hillary Boob.
The Beatles Yellow Submarine set is part of the “LEGO Ideas” series, which are concepts that are proposed by fans and, if deemed worthwhile by a review board, are then produced for official release by the company.
Kevin Szeto, who designed the Yellow Submarine LEGO set, says, “As an amateur musician and songwriter, I have always been drawn to the music of The Beatles. The creation of the Yellow Submarine model was really my way of showing my affection for The Beatles, as well as trying to pay a small tribute to The Beatles phenomenon.”
He adds, “The Yellow Submarine is bright, fun, and colorful, which also made it a good subject to translate into LEGO form.”
The toy set retails for $59.99.
