Courtesy of Keep Music AliveHeart‘s Nancy Wilson, ex-Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora and Todd Rundgren are just a few of the celebrities lending their support to the Keep Music Alive organization’s third annual Kids Music Day, which will be celebrated on October 5.

Wilson, Sambora and Rundgren are among the inaugural group of Kids Music Day Ambassadors, along with such other performers and musicians as Julie Andrews, Sarah McLachlan, Orianthi, Jan Hammer and Siedah Garrett.

During the annual event, music schools, music shops, instrument stores and other participating locations offer free music lessons, concerts, community and family jams, instrument donation drives and other activities meant to encourage young people to get involved with music.

In addition, a variety of companies lend financial support to Keep Music Alive’s initiative to promote music education and musical activities for children and adults.

Kids Music Day is one of two international music holidays founded by Keep Music Alive, along with Teach Music Week, which takes place each March. For Teach Music Week, Keep Music Alive partners with music schools, music stores and music-related organizations to offer free music lessons.
