Minor League Baseball Team Bowie Baysox to Pay Tribute to David Bowie

Gijsbert Hanekroot/RedfernsHere’s an unlikely way to honor a rock legend: The Bowie Baysox minor league baseball team will change the pronunciation of their name to honor David Bowie. Usually pronounced “boo-ee,” the team’s named will be pronounced as “boh-ee” as a tribute to the late music icon.

The name change will go in effect for one night only on David Bowie Tribute night July 22, which will see the Baysox battle the Erie SeaWolves. The game will be filled with Bowie’s music, contests and tributes. Additionally, the players will wear David Bowie-themed jerseys, an the game will be followed by fireworks inspired by the Thin White Duke.
