Robert Trujillo played a snippet of Soundgarden‘s “Black Hole Sun” during Metallica‘s show in Boston. Additionally, during Metallica’s headlining set at the Rock on the Range festival, James Hetfield declared “We forgive you, Chris,” after performing “The Unforgiven.”
Imagine Dragons honored Cornell at Sunday night’s Billboard Music Awards with a speech from frontman Dan Reynolds. “He was a prolific songwriter, a legendary performer, a singer who had a voice for the ages, and a philanthropist, whose Chris and Vicky Cornell Foundation helped so many children around the world,” Reynolds said. “Even though Chris is gone, his legacy endures.”
Pearl Jam‘s Mike McCready, who played with Cornell in Temple of the Dog, told the Seattle Times, “Chris Cornell painted in song the darkness and beauty of life in Seattle.”

The Pretty Reckless, who opened for Soundgarden the night Cornell died, covered Audioslave‘s “Like a Stone.”
Incubus and Cage the Elephant teamed up to perform “Black Hole Sun.”
Corey Taylor, Bush and Live performed various songs from Cornell’s catalog during the Rock on the Range festival, which Soundgarden was scheduled to headline.
Aerosmith held a moment of silence for Cornell at their show in Batumi, Georgia before playing “Dream On.”
