Lynyrd Skynyrd’s Gary Rossington and Wife to Release New Collaborative Album in November

Credit: Travis ShinnLynyrd Skynyrd guitarist Gary Rossington has teamed up with his wife, longtime Skynyrd backing vocalist Dale Krantz-Rossington, on a new blues- and soul-influenced album titled Take It on Faith that will hit stores November 4.

The 12-track collection, which will be released under the moniker Rossington, features all-star contributions, including ZZ Top‘s Billy Gibbons, blues-rock veteran Delbert McClinton, late Little Feat drummer Richie Hayward, and one-time Fleetwood Mac singer Bekka Bramlett.

Gibbons co-wrote a song titled “Good Side of Good,” while McClinton lent his harmonica talents to the album.

During the 1980s, Gary and Dale played together in The Rossington Collins Band and The Rossington Band, but the couple hadn’t been interested in releasing new music outside of Lynyrd Skynyrd since then. Gary said he and his wife eventually had a change of heart, because fans would often ask them during meet-and-greets if they ever planned to make a new record.

“Right now, we consider it a gift to the fans,” says Gary about Take It on Faith. “We did it for them, and I hope they like it. They asked us to do something again, so we did it. We seized that opportunity, and ran with it. And we’re real excited it’s finally coming out.”

Take It on Faith was produced by David Z, whose previous credits include recordings by Prince, Etta James and Buddy Guy. Other musicians featured on the record include late Black Oak Arkansas guitarist Jack Holder, ex-Double Trouble keyboardist Reese Wynans, and award-winning producer and session guitarist Gary Nicholson.
