Credit: Pep BonetThe Rainbow Bar & Grill, Lemmy Kilmister‘s favorite Los Angeles-area drinking hole, will unveil a statue of the late Motorhead frontman on Wednesday, August 24. The life-size bronze likeness of the legendary British hard rocker will be located at the bar where he spent many an hour.

The statue, which was created by sculptor Travis Moore, was paid for in full by a crowdfunding campaign hosted by YouCaring.com. A live stream of the unveiling will be viewable at the websites of The Rainbow and the nearby Sunset Strip club The Whisky a Go Go. The event is open to the public and will begin at 7 p.m. PT.

In addition, The Rainbow’s outside bar has been remodeled and has been renamed Lemmy’s Lounge, the first in a planned series of bars that will bear the name. Also, another famous Sunset Strip venue, The Roxy, is planning to have a full wall mural dedicated to Lemmy, who died on December 28 four days after his 70th birthday and shortly after being diagnosed with terminal cancer.
