Credit: Michie TurpinIn 2016 and 2017, Kansas celebrated the 40th anniversary of its classic 1976 album Leftoverture with a special tour, and now the band has announced plans to mark the big 4-0 of its similarly successful 1977 studio effort, Point of Know Return, with a commemorative trek this fall.

The Point of Know Return 40th Anniversary Tour kicks off September 28 in Atlanta and is plotted out through a December 15 show in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Each stop of the trek will feature a two-hour concert that will include a full performance of the album, plus a set of other Kansas classics and gems.

Point of Know Return, which was the prog-rock veterans’ fifth studio effort, peaked at #4 on the Billboard 200 and, like Leftoverture, has sold more than 4 million copies in the U.S. The record included Kansas’ highest-charting single, “Dust in the Wind,” which reached #6 on the Billboard Hot 100. Meanwhile, the album’s title track was a top 30 hit.

Prior to the Point of Know Return trek, Kansas has more than 30 other shows lined up at which they will be playing assorted classic tunes and fan favorites. The band’s next scheduled show takes place May 24 in Airway Heights, Washington.

At select dates during the spring and summer, the group will be performing alongside such veteran acts as Asia Featuring John Payne, Dokken, Starship Featuring Mickey Thomas, Creedence Clearwater Revisited and Blue Oyster Cult.
