Credit: Andrew MacphersonJoe Walsh has announced plans for the inaugural edition of an annual benefit concert called VetsAid that will raise funds for a new charity he launched supporting for veterans and their families. The show, which will take place September 20 at the EagleBank Arena in Fairfax, Virginia, will feature performances by the Eagles guitarist, country stars Keith Urban and the Zac Brown Band, and blues-rock guitarist Gary Clark Jr.

Tickets for the VetsAid concert go on sale to the general public this Friday, July 21, at 10 a.m. ET. Members of Walsh’s fan club will be able to purchase pre-sale tickets beginning Tuesday, July 18, at 10 a.m. ET. More artists will be added to the lineup soon.

Walsh, whose father was killed while serving in the military when Joe was just 20 months old, is a longtime supporter of veterans’ causes. The money raised by VetsAid will be distributed to various established charities that offer care for the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being of veterans and their families.

“I had to do something [to help veterans] and seeing as though rock-and-roll seems to be what I do best, it’s also the least I could do for those who have served and continue to serve our country,” says Walsh. “We’re all in this together as Americans and seems to me lately that people are forgetting that…Let’s put on a show, raise some money and celebrate our vets… and let’s do it every year!”

This past Saturday, Walsh joined the recently re-formed Eagles to play the band’s first show since the January 2016 death of founding member Glenn Frey at The Classic West festival in Los Angeles. The group will perform again at The Classic East event on July 29 in New York City.
