earMUSICJoe Jackson has given fans another preview from his forthcoming studio album, Fool, which will be released Friday, January 18. A new song from the record titled “Friend Better” has been posted on the earMUSIC label’s official YouTube channel.

The jazzy, soulful tune celebrates the virtues of platonic friendship. It’s available now as a digital single and via streaming services.

Fool is Jackson’s 20th studio effort and arrives 40 years after the release of his debut album, 1979’s Look Sharp. Jackson co-produced the new record with Pat Dillett, whose previous studio work includes several David Byrne projects.

Joe recorded Fool with the backing band he’s toured with since the release of his 2015 album, Fast Forward, including his longtime bassist Graham Maby.

Jackson previously released two other songs from Fool in advance of the album: “Fabulously Absolute” and “Strange Land.” Fool, which can be pre-ordered now, is available on CD, as a vinyl LP, digitally, and as a limited-edition collection featuring the LP and a seven-inch vinyl single that includes two previously unreleased songs.

Joe will launch a new trek called the Four Decade Tour on February 5 in Knoxville, Tennessee. The North American leg of the outing will wind down with a March 9 concert in Phoenix, Arizona.

The tour will feature Jackson performing select tunes from five of his albums, one from each decade of his career: Look Sharp, 1982’s Night and Day, 1991’s Laughter and Lust, 2008’s Rain and Fool.
