ABC/Craig SjodinThe members of Pearl Jam have never been shy about their political views, and that tradition continues with the band’s poster for their recent show in Missoula, Montana.
The poster, designed by bassist Jeff Ament and artist Bobby Draws Skulls, depicts the White House engulfed in flames while a bald eagle feeds on the corpse of President Donald Trump. The clouds above spell out the word “vote.”
“We’re at a tipping point, and it’s time for action,” says Ament, a Montana native. He also expressed his support for Montana’s senator, Democrat Jon Tester, who’s running for re-election in November.
“Jon Tester is the real deal and nobody cares more about our country and especially Montana,” Ament writes.
Tester’s opponent in the Senate race, Republican Matt Rosendale, called the poster “disgusting and reprehensible.”
“It’s time for @JonTester to denounce this act of violence and blatant display of extremism!” Rosendale tweeted.
Pearl Jam will play two shows in Chicago later this month and two shows in Boston in September.
In other Pearl Jam-related news, Jack White covered the grunge icons’ song “Daughter” during a show in their hometown of Seattle on Monday. Fan-recorded audio of the cover is streaming now on YouTube.
At Pearl Jam’s show in Seattle last week, Eddie Vedder performed a solo rendition of The White Stripes‘ “We’re Going to Be Friends.”
