Nicholas Hunt/Getty ImagesThe husband of Heart frontwoman Ann Wilson has been charged with two counts of assault for allegedly attacking the children of Ann’s sister, Heart guitarist Nancy Wilson.
According to charging documents filed in Washington state Superior Court on Wednesday, Dean Wetter has been charged with one count of assault in the second degree and one count of assault in the forth degree in an incident in which he is accused of punching and choking one of his 16-year-old step nephews, and choking another. The alleged incident took place outside the White River Amphitheater in Auburn, Washington, where Heart was performing on August 27.
According to the documents, the boys told investigators that the incident began when Wetter became angry at them because one of the brothers had left the door of a tour bus open. Wetter then allegedly punched and choked one of the teens, causing him to see stars, and choked the other causing him to fear for his life.
According to a detective’s statement, Wetter admitted to police that he had hit one boy and grabbed the throats of both, saying that he does not get along with the boys who “offer him a lot of attitude,” and acknowledging that he “should not have touched them.”
An arraignment is set for September 13 in King County Superior Court.
