ABC/Heidi GutmanBillie Joe Armstrong has shared a statement mourning the death Grant Hart, drummer, co-vocalist and songwriter of Husker Du. In an Instagram post, the Green Day frontman describes how Hart and his Husker Du band mate, singer and guitarist Bob Mould, impacted his life.

“This one hurt. Bad,” Armstrong writes. “There are no words that describe the huge impact that Grant Hart and Bob Mould’s music on Green Day.”

Armstrong explains that when Green Day first started, Husker Du was his favorite band.  “We became a three piece because of Husker,” he says. “We went through adolescence listening to this band. I wanted to be a song writer because of Husker Du.”
