The British folk-rock legend will be presented with the honor at the organization’s 16th Annual Honors & Awards event, taking place Wednesday, September 13, at the famous Ryman Auditorium in Nashville.

The ceremony is part of the 18th annual AmericanaFest: The Americana Music Festival and Conference, which runs from September 12 to September 17 and will feature performances at a variety of venues in Music City.

The Spirit of Americana: Free Speech in Music Award is presented in conjunction with the First Amendment Center at Nashville’s Vanderbilt University. Nash’s Crosby, Stills & Nash band mate Stephen Stills received the same honor in 2013. As previously reported, among the other artists who will be honored this year by the Americana Music Association is Van Morrison, who will receive Lifetime Achievement Award for Songwriting award.

Following the ceremony, Nash will launch a fall North American solo tour in support of his 2016 album, This Path Tonight. The trek kicks off September 17 in Knoxville, Tennessee, and is mapped out through an October 15 show in Milwaukee. Graham recently added a few dates to his itinerary — September 22 in Mount Tabor, New Jersey; September 26 in Old Saybrook, Connecticut; and October 13 in New Buffalo, Michigan. Prior to the tour, Nash will perform at the Philadelphia Folk Festival in Schwenksville, Pennsylvania, on August 19.
