Faithfully: Journey’s Jonathan Cain to Release Christian Rock Album in October

Courtesy of KAIROS CompanyLongtime Journey keyboardist Jonathan Cain has embraced Christianity with open arms, and he celebrates his faith on a new solo album called What God Wants to Hear, which will be released on October 21. When he was young, Cain had considered becoming priest, and his rekindled religious devotion coincided with meeting his current wife, the Orlando, Florida-based evangelist Paula White, whom he married in April of 2015.

The 66-year-old musician, who has co-written many of Journey’s best-known tunes, says he found plenty of inspiration for his new solo material by reading the Bible. “I’ve always been seeking out songs since I was young,” he explains. “I never had any idea how rich the Bible was with imagery. I got lost in it. It feels like I’m just starting to believe again.”

Meanwhile, White says her husband’s religious reawakening has coincided with a renewed passion for music. She maintains that when Cain recently led worship during her annual women’s conference, she “never heard him sing like this. Something had shifted in him.”

Explaining the inspiration behind his new album, Jonathan notes, “Only God can take a mess and turn it into a message, a test into a testimony, a trial into a triumph, a victim into victory.”

For a limited time, Cain is offering a free instant download of a bonus track titled “Remove Every Veil,” which includes a spoken introduction by his wife, at JonathanCainMusic.com. Fans can pre-order What God Wants to Hear at iTunes starting this Friday, September 23.
