ABC/Randy HolmesElton John is no stranger to the London theater world, having written music for West End shows like Billy Elliot, and now he’ll be helping honor some of theater’s best when he co-hosts the Evening Standard Theatre Awards.

Sponsored by British newspaper the Evening Standard, the annual ceremony has been held for the past 62 years, honoring outstanding achievement in London theater, from small productions to major West End shows.

This year’s ceremony will be held on November 13 at London’s Old Vic theater. Sir Elton will co-host the affair with the Standard‘s owner, Evgeny Lebedev.

“The London stage has nurtured and given a creative voice for many, many talented individuals and it’s such a great honor for me to co-host these illustrious Theatre Awards at The Old Vic this year,” says Elton in a statement to the paper.

By the way, Billy Elliot the Musical won the Evening Standard Theatre Award for best musical in 2005.
