The film explores the aftermath of the November 13, 2015, terrorist attack at the indie-rock band Eagles of Death Metal‘s show at the Bataclan concert hall in Paris, their guest appearance at a U2 show in the French capital the following month and their eventual return to the city for a full performance in February 2016.

Directed by Colin Hanks, Nos Amis also features interviews with Eagles of Death Metal co-founders Jesse Hughes and Josh Homme, as well as examining the musicians deep friendship. Homme was not playing with the band the night of the attack, but he traveled to Paris for their return concert.

U2 had been scheduled to perform at the AccorHotels Arena in Paris the day after the Bataclan attack — a show that was to have aired that same night as an HBO concert special — but the event was postponed until December 7, 2015. The Irish rockers invited Eagles of Death Metal to close out their gig at the arena in December.
