Courtesy of L.A. DodgersAugust 28, 1966, The Beatles played their next-to-last concert ever in the U.S., at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles. To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the historic show, the L.A. Dodgers baseball team will host a special Fab Four-themed night this Friday, August 26.
The event will feature a pregame concert by Beatles tribute band The Fab Four — The Ultimate Tribute, as well as a postgame fireworks display set to some of the rock legend’s classic tunes. In addition, fans attending the game will receive a commemorative beach towel featuring the Beatles logo and a replica image of one of the tickets to the 1966 show.
The tribute concert, which will include performances of some of the same songs The Beatles played at their Dodger Stadium gig, will begin at 6 p.m. PT. The game itself will feature the Dodgers facing off against the Chicago Cubs. You can purchase tickets to the event at the Dodgers’ official website.
According to BeatlesBible.com, The Beatles performed 11 songs at their Dodger Stadium show, including “She’s a Woman,” “If I Needed Someone,” “Day Tripper,” “Yesterday,” “Nowhere Man,” and “Paperback Writer.” The next day, August 29, 1966, the band would play what would be its last official concert ever, at Candlestick Park in San Francisco.
