WilsonIn recent years, Kinks guitarist Dave Davies and his older brother and fellow founding band mate Ray Davies have been alternately optimistic and doubtful about the possibility of a reunion of their famous group. Now, in a new interview with Dave, the 69-year-old Rock and Roll Hall of Famer appears hopeful about him and his brother working on a new Kinks project.

Dave, who currently is putting together a new solo album, tells TheLongPlays.com, “I’ve been spending some time with Ray, throwing some ideas together. There are many things yet to come, from both my music and even The Kinks. Who knows?”

He adds, “Ray and I are throwing ideas around, he’s finishing a solo album and I’ve been working on my stuff. But it’s all good positive stuff.”

Dave reports that his new album is a collaboration with his son Russell that he expects to release in the fall. He and his son previously teamed up to record 2010’s The Aschere Project, which he describes as a “space drama, but he says the new project is more rock and pop oriented.

“I’m very excited about it,” Dave tells TheLongPlays.com. “We recorded at Russell’s studio and a lot over the Internet because the technology these days is great.”

Russell Davies also contributed to a few tracks on his dad’s most recent studio effort, 2014’s Rippin’ Up Time.

Ray Davies, of course, did join his brother onstage in December of 2015 to perform the Kinks classic “You Really Got Me” at a solo concert by Dave in their hometown of London. That marked the first time the brothers had performed together in public since the band’s final tour in 1996.
