Capitol/Apple Corps Ltd.Beatles fans will be treated to a return trip to Pepperland next year, as a new comic book based on the 1968 animated Fab Four film Yellow Submarine is scheduled to be published in conjunction with the movie’s 50th anniversary. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the graphic adaptation, titled The Beatles: Yellow Submarine, will be written and illustrated by newly hired MAD magazine executive editor Bill Morrison and will be issued by Titan Comics.

The Yellow Submarine flick was a psychedelic fantasy adventure featuring cartoon likenesses of the Fab Four, who journey to the surreal world of Pepperland to help save the inhabitants from the evil Blue Meanies and villainous creatures.

Morrison is a longtime fan of Yellow Submarine who co-founded Bongo Comics with Simpsons creator Matt Groening.

“We’re thrilled to be publishing The Beatles: Yellow Submarine for the 50th Anniversary of this fantastic movie,” says Titan Comics executive Chris Teather. “We can’t wait for Beatles fans to experience this official adaptation.”

In advance of the comic book, Titan’s merchandise branch will release a line of collectible Yellow Submarine figures later in July. The “All Together Now” series includes two versions of each Beatles member, multiple versions of the submarine, Blue Meanies, the Apple Bonker and the Four-Headed Bulldog.
